An Audio Producer in the game industry is the orchestrator of the entire sonic experience, managing the people, processes, and pipelines that bring a game's audio to life. They bridge the gap between creative vision and technical execution, overseeing composers, sound designers, voice directors, and audio programmers to ensure every sound, note, and line of dialogue lands with maximum impact. Part project manager, part creative director, the Audio Producer keeps the audio team aligned, on budget, and on schedule, while championing quality at every stage of production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire audio production pipeline from pre-production planning through final delivery, ensuring all audio assets meet quality standards and are delivered on schedule.
  • Collaborate with directors, designers, and other stakeholders to define the audio vision and ensure it aligns with the overall creative direction of the project.
  • Manage and coordinate a team of composers, sound designers, voice directors, and audio programmers, assigning tasks and tracking progress.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with external audio vendors, studios, voice talent, and freelance musicians.
  • Develop and manage the audio budget, balancing creative ambitions with financial constraints.
  • Review and approve all audio assets including music, sound effects, dialogue, and ambience, providing feedback and directing revisions as needed.
  • Coordinate voice-over recording sessions, ensuring talent direction aligns with character and narrative requirements.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in the audio workflow, implementing processes to improve efficiency and quality.
